Community Development

Neighborhood Council

In neighborhoods where the Housing Partnership has community-building activities, we invite residents to participate in a Neighborhood Council. Working with council members, we sponsor community events; offer leadership workshops and training opportunities, such as the NeighborWorks® Community Training Institute; help with improvement projects; and organize efforts that focus on specific issues, such as zoning changes, voting rights and crime.

Currently, we have Neighborhood Councils in the Pine Forest, Pine Forest Heights, 29th and Chase, P.R.I.D.E., Larsen, Magnolia Gardens, Metro Garden, North Riverside and Robinson Addition neighborhoods.

Community Leadership Institute

The Housing Partnership's Community Development Department has taken part in the past five Community Leadership Institute (CLI) regional training conferences, hosted by NeighborWorks® America's Southern District. The conference provides an opportunity for Neighborhood Council members to gain new skills that help them work more effectively to improve their communities.

We would like to thank the Housing Partnership for all of the help given to our community. We have learned how to communicate more effectively with the residents...
