One week, one neighborhood — every year, thousands of volunteers come together to repair and revamp during the annual Paint the Town During Rehab Week. This year, volunteers and staff returned to the Magnolia Gardens neighborhood in north Jacksonville where 46 homes were renovated last year. Another 32 are scheduled for improvements this year.
This Housing Partnership flagship event is an intensive home rehabilitation program that includes professional construction work, which actually begins months in advance and is supplemented by volunteer crews. We select a neighborhood, plan the event with its neighborhood association, then go to work to update plumbing, replace roofs and more. When Rehab Week arrives, volunteers paint and landscape the newly rehabilitated homes. Since 1994, more than 100,000 hours of volunteer labor have resulted in the rehabilitation of more than 600 homes as part of our Paint The Town program.
